If you smoke, you probably already know how much harder it is to get insurance. Health insurance companies charge you more for health care and life insurance companies charge you more for term life insurance. This is because, as a smoker, you have a higher risk profile than someone who does not smoke. And in the insurance world, higher risk means higher premiums ? much higher, in fact!

  • So What's a Smoker to Do? The best solution to the situation is, of course, to quit smoking. There are many plans and tools available today to help you do this, and many of them are either covered or supported by your health insurance company (which would also love it if you quit smoking!) Doing a quick search on your health insurance site for 'smoking cessation' programs should help you identify some quickly.

But we all know that quitting can be a lengthy and difficult process, and in the meantime you and your family still need to be protected with a high quality term life insurance policy. That's where smokers' insurance comes in.

  • Smokers' Insurance: So What is It? Smokers' insurance is a term life policy administered by a company that specializes in covering higher risk groups of individuals. By going to a company that offers smokers' insurance, you will pay lower rates on your life insurance policy than if you tried to buy a policy directly from a generalist insurance company.

You will also gain a policy with a company that has tailored its insurance plans specifically to your needs, and will treat you as a valued customer - not just a higher risk profile.
