Alright, alright - I'll admit it. I've lit up a few smokes in my day. I'm not going to tell you that I trek up to the gas station each morning to buy myself a new 20-pack to get me through lunch, but let's just say that years of college parties and road trips through the wilderness have introduced me to this vice.

We all know it's not an extremely healthy practice, but as long as they are being sold, my guess is that there will be plenty of people out there who will buy cigarettes, including me in a moment of weakness.

Now what does smoking have to do with this weekly insurance column? Well, like I said, since it's inevitable that there is going to be a population of smokers, it's also inevitable that there will be a population of smokers who will want life insurance.

Why Sell Smoker Life Insurance?

Now if you were to ponder this idea for just one moment, you'd probably come to the same conclusion I did. Selling smoker life insurance seems like risky business. Some folks might think the idea is downright ludicrous.

Although many smokers will live to see extremely old ages, the odds are not necessarily in their favor. Well let me tell you, the smokers' insurance business is alive and well, and is extremely competitive. It's not too hard to figure out. People can still make money selling life insurance to smokers as long as they do their math.

They can set a monthly premium that is weighed against the average life expectancy of a smoker. If they set it high enough, they'll cover the increased risk of dying due to smoking.

Smoker Life Insurance - Good News for Nicotine Lovers

This is good news for those who need a smoke before their morning coffee. Yes, you will be able to buy life insurance for yourself and your family even if you smoke. Sure, you'll probably pay a little more than a non-smoker, but at least you'll be able to get some coverage.

After checking the web, I found some pretty good deals on smoker term life insurance. The market is quite competitive, and like other types of insurance, companies are always trying to undercut one another with lower prices. This is definitely a market where you'll want to shop around to find the best premium.
